Before Things Get Too Crazy…

So, Wednesday October 11th is the official launch day for Monsters & Angels. Those of you who have been following my blog know the project is more about heart and spirit than selling books. When I started writing this story, I never imagined I would be publishing it.

From the bottom of my heart, I’d like all my readers to know how much I appreciate the team that made my dreams come true!

Monsters & Angels
Acknowledgments

Writing these acknowledgments is scary because I’m sure I’ll miss an essential contributor…but here we go!

First, I want to thank my husband Scott for being my grandest cheerleader and sharing in every bit of blessed craziness it took to finish this project.

Thank you to all the friends, family and fellow writers who made my dream of publishing Monsters & Angels come true:

Jordan Rosenfeld, my first editor without whom this novel would still be an unfinished, messy manuscript; Katie Bartholomew Anderson for your analysis, editing and encouragement; Racquel Kechagias, my critique partner, for your precious insight and love of Raimond; Kat Mancos, for your messages and support; Magali Frechette, my cover designer who saw my vision and hit it out of the park; Ray Laskowitz, for your New Orleanian wisdom; Lynn Cozza, the genuine Dragon Lady; Christina Mercer, Suzanne, Crystal, Brooke, and Marissa, my earliest readers who loved the story enough to carry me past my doubts; Karen Andrus for her French Quarter insider tips: John Andrus, for driving me to Commander’s Palace; Diane Bartholomew, for her legendary quotes; Bruce and Ryan Bartholomew, for asking me questions that made me think; New Orleans, the city, the people, and your collective spirit.

And finally, the cast of Monsters & Angels. You inspired me, grabbed my hand, led me on an extravagant journey, and brought me home richer than when I left.

Merci beacoup!

Hit Pause…Speak Truth

This is not a normal, concise and word-perfect post from me.

It’s a ramble because I need to say it, to heal, and to keep being me.

The past few months have been devastating for so many around the world—acts of terror, terrifying weather and just the unstoppable march of time.

It’s hard to believe that in 2017, I could be surprised at how hateful and cruel people can be to each other. Yet…I’m shocked.

My confession: I am not political.

My truth: I am human.

My advice to the President and anyone else who has the privilege of a platform and a voice:

In the face of absolute disaster and human suffering, do not tear others down.

Be kind to strangers, even if they are not kind to you. You have no idea what people are going through.

Take the high road.

Be a leader.

Inspire.

Empower.

If you can’t or won’t take any of these actions, shut up. Please.

Then, Monday, October 2nd, 2017.

One of those days I wonder, why bother? We’re irreparably broken.

I stumbled across an old post I never published—I probably should have.

It was from another time that I questioned writing and reading fantasy, when everything was wrong with the world.

I felt frivolous, silly…like a waste of time…or a big lie.

It took some time to work my way free.

I didn’t post this yesterday. I couldn’t hit the button.

Today, Tuesday October 3rd, 2017…people are standing in lines for hours to donate blood.

I’m working my way free. So about that old post…

To the dreamers and the artists;

The singers, painters, jewelry designers, authors, photographers and songwriters—without your genius, every ounce of joy and beauty will be lost forever.

Be strong.

Never give up.

You are our only true hope.

Happy October!

October is finally here!

Halloween has always been my favorite holiday of the year!

Bring on the candy, ghouls, goblins, skeletons, fangs…and don’t forget the Vampire Ball!

So many exciting things are going on this month, but first things first!

The Box Under The Bed is live!

I’m honored to have two of my stories, featuring two leading ladies, included in this collection!

If You Can Dream It…

I recently posted about being a contributing author to The Box Under the Bed.  What an exciting experience this has been.  I am part of a private FB group where all the authors have been discussing the progress of the book, finalizing the cover design,  and looking at screenshots as the book is being formatted in paperback form.  Yes!!  And that is now available for you to order at Amazon!!

We have also been getting updates as the book has been climbing the charts of The Hot New Releases in our book category.  The last time I saw it we we’re at #7!!  How awesome is that?  That is why we are asking for pre-orders.  Amazon has all kinds of lists that are ranked by sales.  If we get to number one, then that means more exposure for us.

Dan, as always, has been talking about it on his…

Monsters & Angels Cover Reveal!!

Finally! Time to show off the spectacular Monsters & Angels cover!

Special thanks to Magali Frechette at Storm Owl Art . She didn’t just design a cover, she wrangled my scattered visions and hit it out of the park!

Fledgling nurse Sorcha Alden knew she had the skills to save lives, but she never dreamed her own life would be the one in danger.

Driven by tragedy to honor her family name, Sorcha embarks on a journey that takes her from the bleak but familiar streets of New York, through the sultry and seductive city of New Orleans, and into the brutal jungles of Nepal. Forging friendships and carrying on her mother’s mission of healing was her dream. Plunging into a love affair with the mysterious Dr. Ashayle, could have been a fairytale.

Being murdered and waking up as a blood-thirsty monster—became her living nightmare.

Torn away from a life that had just begun, Sorcha returns to New Orleans as a newborn vampire, forced to start over in a cutthroat underworld of devilry and decadence. Complicated politics, bitter rivals and jealous ancestors stand between her and the promises she’s still determined to keep.

In a realm where the boundary between good and evil is as murky as the Mississippi River and immortal does not mean invincible, will Sorcha ever risk her shattered heart and love again? Can the magical harmony of the Crescent City give her enough courage to fulfill her eternal destiny?

Anne Marie has been an equestrienne, chorale singer, candy-striper, EMT, and baseball fan. Roaming the back roads of New Jersey with her family, she found great respect for antiques, historical locations and the stories they hold. Her current list of favorite pastimes include coffee, bourbon, and Les Misérables–which requires more bourbon. She has been known to attend sporting events just for the flyover. The boat she and her husband christened Glory Days, is her escape from the chaos of everyday life.

The inspiration for Anne Marie’s debut novel, Monsters & Angels, is her fascination with vampires and her passion for everything New Orleans. When she isn’t writing, she can be found working nights with the critical care team in a busy trauma center.
